There is still ice on the course and the natural luge demonstration sport will be held at at Naseby on Sunday.

"The course is holding its ice and can be used for the luge," Maniototo Ice Rink committee member Gerald Dowling told the Otago Daily Times yesterday.

"It's a natural luge track but it's artificially frozen and that is why we can maintain it longer.

"There is also a frozen snow pit close to the track holding snow that will be used if needed," he said.

"The ice melted fast today but I'm confident that the luge will still be held on Sunday."

There have been problems with the pipe not freezing properly at the lower end of the course.

It is the third round of the Naseby Cup series.

The leaders after two rounds are: Senior men: Greg Jones (Naseby) 200 points, Geoff Balme (Hamilton) 145; senior women: Lisa O'Neill (Ranfurly) 185, Angela Scott (Gimmerburn) 170; junior men: Michael McCormack (Naseby) 170, Tyler Carson-Day (Wedderburn) 130; junior women: Tyla Toheriri-O'Neill (Ranfurly) 185, Cheyan Vowles (Naseby) 170.
