The Top 10 Otago rugby players to have graced Carisbrook

1. Jeff Wilson (1993-2001): There was no more skilled all-round player than the Golden One.

2. Kevin Skinner (1947-54): Strong, skilled and mobile. And you messed with him at your peril.

3. Chris Laidlaw (1962-67): His pass gets longer every year.

4. Mike Brewer (1985-92): Intelligent, versatile and a great leader.

5. Ron Elvidge (1942-50): The leader of Otago in the halcyon post-war era. Made countless clean breaks and made his outsides look good.

6. Josh Kronfeld (1992-2000): A casual, quirky character off the field but an absolutely dynamite openside flanker once the whistle blew.

7. John Timu (1988-94): Fast and powerful with a wicked sidestep.

8. Anton Oliver (1994-2005): An environmentalist and academic trapped in the body of the best scrummaging hooker in Otago history.

9. Richard Knight (1982-92): Durable and skilled. Otago's most capped player with a number of appearances - 170 - that will never be beaten.

10. Earle Kirton (1960-69): A polished five-eighth and strong runner who formed an immortal inside back partnership with Laidlaw.
