Wanaka triathlete Nicky Samuels won the sportswoman of the year award for the third year running to add to her 2008 overall Central Otago sportsperson award.
Alexandra cyclist Sophie Williamson won the junior sportswoman of the year award, after an impressive list of results in 2010, which included under-17 gold medals in both the national road race and national time trial.
Naseby curlers Bridget and Shaun Becker claimed the team of the year award on the back of their silver medal at the world mixed pairs championships last year , the highest placing ever achieved by a New Zealand curling team.
Former New Zealand sevens player Dallas Seymour acknowledged the Central Otago sports winners during his speech at the awards dinner, which was held at Wanaka's Oakridge Resort.
