Healey White has been playing snooker for only 10 months but he has already won two national junior titles.

Healey (13), a year 9 pupil at Waitaki Boys High School, won the under-13 and under-15 titles in Auckland during the school holidays, at only his second major tournament.

The only time he got "real nervous" was when the score was 1-1 in the under-21 semifinal, which he lost 2-1 to a 20-year-old. He also made the under-17 semifinal.

Healey is coached by his father, Stewart White, who often plays snooker, and Jason Todd, who has represented New Zealand internationally. He practises twice a week and also plays twice a week.

Healey said he would like to compete overseas in a sport he enjoyed.

"I like the game. It can be harder than any other sport," he said.

Healey also plays rugby and basketball.
