Wellington made it two in a row when it won the Tri-Star tournament at the Caversham club over the weekend.
The Wellington side had won the tournament last year and made no race of it over the weekend, as it had depth throughout its side.
It won with 39 points, well clear of Canterbury in second with 26 points.
The Southern Gold team was close behind in third with 24 points while the other team from the south, Southern Maroon, finished fourth.
Each team had six players, who competed in singles, doubles and triples over the two days.
Wellington, which had New Zealand representative Michael Rocks within its ranks, won the singles and the doubles and was first equal with Southern Maroon in the triples.
Southern Gold's Neville Frost claimed the scalp of Rocks 13-12 in a singles match but that loss by Rocks did not prove to be too costly.
Southern Gold was second in the doubles, just a few points behind Wellington, but it disappointed in the triples, managing only three points.
Many of the games went down to the wire, being decided by just the one point, with the first player to 13 the victor.
The Southern teams were made up from players from Alexandra and Dunedin clubs.
Wellington will look to take a hat trick of titles next year when it hosts the tournament.
