Four players with Otago links are up for national AFL recognition.
Josh Mackie, Hayden Johnston, Jaimee Wyatt and Killarney Morey are all nominees for the AFL New Zealand awards on Saturday.
Wyatt, who is from Auckland but moved to Dunedin for university, is up for female player of the year.
She was one of the New Zealand under-18 women's team's stand outs last year and is in her fourth year of AFL.
She also became just the third New Zealander selected to AFLW national youth girls championships, representing Tasmania in Sydney.
One of the other two to reach that level was Morey, in 2017.
The captain of the New Zealand under-18 side, Morey also moved south from Auckland for university and is nominated for female player of the year.
She continues to be a strong presence in that team, and is also a member of the Southern Blast Beko League netball team.
Meanwhile Mackie and Johnston are both nominated for the national under-18 player of the year.
Both were key figures in the New Zealand under-18 men's side which won on Australian soil for the first time in May.
Alongside that, both have been putting in strong performances in the AFL national premiership in Auckland.
Mackie was the captain of that side and his height and agility made him key in taking marks and evading defenders.
Meanwhile Johnston was the vice-captain and named the best on ground during that win.
