About 10 or 11 years ago, I bought an American football video game - Madden 99, on Nintendo. I played that a bit and it just grew from there.

I sort of got sick of rugby on the TV all the time, so I looked for a sporting alternative. I'm also a bit of a stats nerd. That's why I like cricket as well.

I really like all the stats in American football. But I really enjoy the business side as well, seeing how teams are built and how the salary cap works.

It took me a while to get to grips with the game and how it works. But it's amazing how much video games can help.

It can be frustrating at first but you soon pick it up. It didn't take too long to get the general gist of football. Video games are great for learning the rules.

People are always saying the sport is for softies because they wear pads and helmets and stuff. But the injuries they get are pretty bad.

For me, the fans are one of the big reasons I like American football. The games are always sold out, and fans seem to get into the games so much more than we ever do for rugby.

It's a really involved sport, too, a really big spectacle.

I think I'm winning a few fans over. There's a group of five of us who are into the NFL. We have a competition every year where we pick teams, in a bit of a nerdy draft format, and earn points for match-ups and how well they do.

We mark it all up on a spreadsheet and work out a winner at the end of the season. It's a bit of fun.

The Green Bay Packers were the only team I'd really heard anything about when I first got into football. I also saw them on TV one day, so they just became my team.

I really like the fact they're from a small town. What really impresses me is the team is publicly owned. They're not owned by one person trying to make a profit.

The people of Green Bay own the team. They even have an annual meeting where they get to vote on things.

It's a bit more blue collar than other franchises, real down-to-earth stuff.

The Packers are playing in the Super Bowl on Monday, which is pretty exciting. I've got the day off and I will be at home watching the game. I've got a few people coming around.

I'll be pretty excited. I think the Packers have got a good chance. They had a lot of injuries this year but dug deep.

Their defence is great and they've got a good enough quarterback to get the job done.
