In this accompanying photo Dunstan High School pupil Robert Hervey (16) performs an "air-screw'' manoeuvre on the Ottawa river in Canada where he is attending a freestyle kayaking camp with teenagers from around the world.

Dunstan pupils Finn Butcher (15), Max Rayner (13) and Max's younger brother Otis (11), who attends Alexandra Primary School, have all been taking part in the three-week "Keener'' camp run through the Ottawa Kayak School. At the camp, talented young kayakers learn skills to compete at a high level, along with first-aid skills, rescue training and character development.

In May, Robert and Finn were both chosen for the New Zealand under-18 kayak slalom development squad for the second successive year, and will compete in Australia in January.
