Otago skiing great Adam Hall has chalked up another milestone.

The para alpine ski racer reached a world cup podium for a 30th time when he claimed bronze at the first French round of the slalom circuit yesterday.

It was a 100th world cup start for the Outram-raised, Wanaka-based veteran, and a successful start to his preparation for his sixth Paralympic campaign in Milano Cortina in 2026.

"I had a really good day and I am really happy," Hall said.

"I met some big milestones today and it is a great way to start my season. I haven’t started a season in such a strong position right off the bat before.

"I have had an incredible lead-up into these races with amazing training and it’s so rewarding to see weeks and months of training come through into my competitions."

Slalom rankings are determined by the first and second run times of each athlete combined.

Hall was sitting in fourth position after the first run, so he knew he would need to find a little more speed in his second run if he wanted to secure a podium finish.

"Today’s conditions on the slope was perfect, my skis were great and things are just slowly coming together.

"The competition was so tight. I just have to trust my processes and continue to solidify my training as we head into competitions."

Hall finished in bronze medal position, 2.87sec behind winner Arthur Bauchet, of France. Aaron Lindstroem, of Sweden, was second.

Snow Sports NZ lead para alpine coach Daniel Bogue was pleased with Hall’s efforts at the Tignes resort.

"We have continued on from last season working on Adam’s technical skiing, while also searching for the best equipment set up to enable him to perform," Bogue said.

"The whole team is stoked for Adam and how he skied today. We still have work to do, which is exciting moving forward."
