Southern United got what it needed out of the weekend’s national futsal league tournament.
It had entered the tournament in Wellington in search of nine points and nine points was what it got.
Three wins from four games leave it right in the mix for the playoff spots with just one tournament left.It claimed two important wins on Saturday, beating Waikato Bay of Plenty 1-0 and Auckland 5-2.
That saw it finish the day in second place on the table, tied on 13 points with Auckland and one ahead of Waikato Bay of Plenty.
A 4-3 loss to Northern in the first game yesterday saw it fall, but after a 5-3 win over Hawke’s Bay it finished the weekend with 16 points.
With the table very congested, there will be plenty to play for at the final tournament of the weekend, beginning in Auckland on December 8.
