It might have been a cold start to the week but it is set to heat up as the nation’s top curlers contest the national championships in Naseby.
The New Zealand men’s and women’s championships start at Maniototo Curling International today.
Thirteen competitors are taking part in the four-day tournament, including New Zealand representatives Anton Hood, Sean Becker and Peter de Boer.
Becker has been a regular on the podium nationally and internationally, and is a part of the Becker family dynasty.
In the women’s grade, a small group of five is competing for the top honours.
The tournament starts at 3.30pm and runs until Sunday.
