The Defiance will be held on March 28-29 next year, rather than January.
The later date allows competitors from the Coast to Coast more recovery time between races, while also presenting great conditions.
"Late March is a brilliant time of the year for adventure racing with reasonably settled weather and slightly cooler conditions,'' 100% Pure Racing CEO Warren Bates said.
"Red Bull Defiance will effectively be the last big hit-out of the season for competitors and an excellent way to wrap up a big summer of training and competing.''
The race is made up of running, mountain biking and kayaking, mixed in with more creative elements in claybird shooting and abseiling.
Traditionally held as a team event, next year's race will also include an individual category.
"This is a first for Red Bull Defiance and not usually an option in adventure races worldwide.
"The new X1 solo category will attract some of the more elite and professional athletes keen to win the trophy for fastest female or male and I expect it to be very popular.''
There are also to be some extra course developments to be announced.
