
The Dunedin swimmer won a coveted triple crown in the final leg of the world cup series, winning gold in the 400m freestyle in Budapest on Saturday.
She blitzed the event in 4min 2.35sec to secure the title, having also won the event in the opening two series legs in Berlin and Athens.
She beat Australian Lani Pallister, who settled for silver with a time of 4min 03.43sec, and Hungary’s Barbara Seemanova, who won bronze in 4min 06.09sec.
Fairweather was in good company, with Dunedin swimmer Caitlin Deans also making her mark in the discipline.
Deans placed sixth, finishing in a personal best time of 4min 11.40sec.
Fairweather backed up her 400m display by winning bronze in the 200m, finishing in 1min 56.08sec.
Deans placed 11th in the 200m with her time of 2min 01.52sec.
