Erika Fairweather has claimed her third gold medal in a matter of days.

The Neptune swimmer won the women’s 100m freestyle at the national championships in Auckland last night.

She was "absolutely stoked" to finish with a personal best of 54.61sec and under the 55sec mark.

She finished almost a body length ahead of the rest of the group, with her back-end stroke bringing her home.

"I always know I’ve got my back-end at a 100," Fairweather said.

"It’s a bit of a different monster than I’m used too. It did start to hurt quite a lot towards the end but that’s the nature of 100.

"Having a fast 100 helps my 200, helps my 400, then helps my 800, so it’s all interlinked and it’s all just hopefully getting me faster."

She will compete in the women’s 800m freestyle today.

Other Dunedin swimmers also shone on Monday night.

Esme Paterson won bronze in the women’s 100m butterfly, with her personal best — and new Otago record — time of 1min 01.64sec.

She lowered her own Otago record by 1sec that she set at the same meet last year.

Luan Grobbelaar also set an Otago record in the men’s 200m breaststroke. He won silver in the event, finishing in 2min 14.45sec and slicing 1.5sec off his own Otago record.

Kane Follows claimed silver in the men’s 200m backstroke in a time of 1min 59.86sec, Curtis Mellsop came fourth in the men’s 200m butterfly in 2min 6.18sec, and in the women’s 200m butterfly, Paterson secured silver (2min 19.39sec), Emilia Finer was fifth (2min 25.02sec and Nicole Lockie sixth (2min 27.18sec).

Paterson and Kwan teamed up with Zac Reid and Tom Gold to represent Neptune in the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay final, coming seventh in a time of 3min 45sec.

The championships finish today.
