Sport Otago's Bridget Meyer will attend an adapted physical activity conference in France for the next two weeks and expects to return with some fresh ideas.

Meyer, the Halberg sport opportunity adviser, left for Paris on Sunday to attend the two-week long international symposium, which is expected to attract more than 300 people from all over the world.

The conference is seen as a vehicle to raise awareness and provide a setting for physical activity professionals to share ideas.

It was originally scheduled to be held in Christchurch from July 4-10 but was relocated to France following the February earthquake.

"The thing I'm really excited about is being able to mix alongside people who are coming at adaptive education from the same angle - just like-minded folk," Meyer said.

"To have the opportunity to meet with world leaders in the field of adaptive physical activity will be inspiring.

"And it is also a good opportunity to show some of the work we've been doing here in Dunedin, which has been pretty successful, to other folk."
