Former Southern Steel coach Noeline Taurua has shown her prowess in Australia.
A year after winning the ANZ Championship's minor premiership with the Steel, she has taken the Sunshine Coast Lightning to the final of Australia's Super Netball league.
The Lightning finished the round robin with 11 wins, one draw and two losses. That meant it finished equal with the Melbourne Vixens on 23 points at the top of the table.
It came in second on goal difference, but edged the Vixens 56-55 in the major semifinal to book a spot in the final.
The Lightning led by four goals late in the game and had to withstand a flurry from the Vixens as they pulled the deficit back to one.
It now has a week off and will play the winner of Saturday's preliminary semifinal between the Vixens and the Giants.
The Giants claimed a slender win in the minor semifinal, coming back from six goals down to beat the Collingwood Magpies 52-51. The Lightning will host the grand final on June 17.
