That is the message from Otago coach Deb Tasi-Cordtz.
Yesterday, she named a young national championship side which features a large core of the under-21 side which placed third at the national championships in Dunedin last month.
"We are youthful and we need to use that to our advantage," Tasi-Cordtz said.
"I don't know if you can replace experience but we just have to play to our strengths and work with who we have."
There is a sprinkling of experience, with former Otago Rebel Debbie Hill captaining the side.
She is one of only four players returning from last year's squad.
Hayley Saunders, Louise Thayer and Greir Campbell are the other returning players.
Hill played 10 matches for the Rebels between 2004 and 2006 and has also represented New Zealand at volleyball on and off since 2003.
The 24-year-old has just returned from the Oceania championships in New Caledonia, where New Zealand placed third, and will have to change focus quickly with Otago playing two warm-up matches against Canterbury in Dunedin on Sunday.
While the team is on the young side, Hill believes what Otago lacks in years it makes up for in enthusiasm.
"A lot of our girls have played for the New Zealand Under-21s. So they are good - I mean, they are really good," she said.
"They're young guns. And like I said, I wasn't even sure if I was going to get in the team, let alone captain it again."
With that in mind, Hill believes Otago should reach the top four and will definitely be targeting a national title.
"Top four and go from there, I suppose. We've got the potential."
Accomplished defender Hannah Broederlow, who played for Otago in 2008, also adds some much-needed experience.
She was a member of the Rebels squad in 2007 and played for the Central Pulse in the ANZ Championship in 2009.
Saunders, who plays for the Southern Steel, and promising goal keep Jess Moulds were called into the national camp to assist with training, and along with Emily Close and Shannon Francois, are members of the New Zealand Under-21 team.
Claire Kersten and Broederlow have also represented New Zealand at age group level.
Meanwhile, reborn netballer Anna Scarlett has decided to sign with the Northern Mystics for next year's transtasman netball championship, NZPA reports.
Following several seasons on the international beach volleyball circuit, Scarlett returned to netball recently and was promptly included in the Silver Ferns squad for October's New Delhi Commonwealth Games in defence of the gold medal she helped them win at the previous games in Melbourne.
