Wilson's side had just pulled off a superb nine-goal win against the highly-rated Thunderbirds but the captain's thoughts had already turned to next week's final round-robin matches.
While the Steel has hit top form at the business end of the ANZ Championship, there is a nagging doubt the team might have left its run too late.
The Steel's win saw it leapfrog the Queensland Firebirds into fourth place.
Both sides are locked on 14 points apiece, separated only by goal differential.
The Steel has a quick turnaround this week and plays the Swifts on Saturday.
The Firebirds play the Fever in Perth on Monday night and, assuming the Steel wins, the Firebirds will know exactly how many goals they need to win by.
That means the Steel needs to win and win well.
"One, we need the win and two, we need to win by as much as possible," Wilson said.
"[But] you can't get wrapped up too much in how many goals you need to score because that can actually put you off."
If the Steel reproduces last night's form, it should have no problem dispatching the Swifts, who will be hurting after making history by becoming the first team to lose to the Pulse.
"Every time the ball looked like it was going out of court, someone was there to reel it in, and if a pass went astray, someone was there scrapping for it," Wilson said of last night's effort.
"It was desperation stuff. We want this top-four position and we knew we had to go for every crumb and every goal was going to count.
Not just the win but how many we could win by.
"The girls are feeling pretty good because we really stuck to our plan [and] we kept our heads. I think there was one time when we probably got a wee bit frazzled but we pulled ourselves out of it."
The Thunderbirds staged a brief rally in the final quarter and got within six goals.
"You saw the hesitation just about come into people's faces but we got through it and finished strongly I think.
"In the last few weeks, we've been taking big strides as a team."
Broughton will coach the World Seven side which will play Australia in September.
