Keep your calculators handy because the Steel can still reach the playoffs after beating the Magic 62-57 in Invercargill last night.
The home side retains a mathematical chance of slipping into the semifinals but will need plenty of results to go its way.
Too many probably.
But for the second week running the Steel played the kind of netball you would expect from a playoff contender.
And for once it was the defence which showed the way. Coach Janine Southby left Rachel Rasmussen on the bench, preferring Phoenix Karaka and Storm Purvis this week.
The Steel has haemorrhaged goals all season but the pair came up with some telling intercepts and deflections.
Goal keep Purvis had her best game in a Steel bib and goal defender Karaka was proving difficult for the Magic's attack end of Jo Harten and Ellen Halpenny.
Star shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid did what she does best and slotted 41 goals from 42 attempts.
Steel captain Jodi Brown stepped up her production in the shooting circle and wing attack Shannon Francois got through an enormous workload and outplayed her marker.
Defeated captain Casey Kopua felt the game slipped away in the second quarter when the Steel wrested back the momentum.
''We had a great start and we stuck to the game plan,'' Kopua told the Sky Sport commentary team.
''[But] in that second quarter they got back at us and we know it only takes five minutes for a team to get you and you're gone.
''Even if you put 10 people in that circle we are never going to get the ball off Jhaniele. But we have to score [off] our own ball ... and we didn't.''
The visiting side had the better of the opening exchanges.
The Steel's game plan was for Brown to put up a few more shots and attract some defenders away from Fowler-Reid.
But the Silver Fern had a quiet quarter which allowed Kopua and Leana de Bruin to gang up on Fowler-Reid and put the Jamaican international under enormous pressure.
The pair work best when they hunt together and they created some anxiety in the Steel feeders.
But it was the Magic's midcourt which reaped most of the rewards.
Bessie Manu nabbed an intercept and, late in the period, former Steel player Courtney Tairi flailed hopefully in the direction of the ball, got a deflection and scooped up possession.
The Magic converted and took a 17-11 lead into the break.
The Magic stretched its lead to 23-13 with two three-goal runs.
But having been caught napping, the Steel responded with two four-goal runs and seized the initiative.
Brown found her confidence and the playmaker helped her side close to within three goals.
Purvis was also influential. She anticipated beautifully and picked off a couple of passes before they reached their target.
She started the second half with another poach as the Steel quickly eroded the deficit and then hit the front for the first time.
Francois made 37 centre pass recieves in the game and popped up just about everywhere.
With 15 minutes remaining, the Steel led 45-43 and had control of the game.
Magic coach Julie Fitzgerald resisted the temptation to introduce Jamie-Lee Price at wing defence or make any other changes. Southby stuck with her starting seven as well.
The Steel won the final period 17-14 to seal an impressive win.
In other matches, the Firebirds beat the Thunderbirds 58-52 to strengthen their grip on a semifinal berth and the Pulse kept its playoff prospects alive with a 58-50 win against the Tactix.
