Perhaps there is not so much riding on this one for the Southern Steel.
The season is done from a playoff perspective.
Last Sunday’s loss to the Northern Stars in Invercargill ended any hope of making the top three, extending the gap between the teams on the table to eight points with two games left.
However, that did not mean the team would be letting up, as it goes on its final road trip of the season.
It faces the Stars again tonight, in Auckland, while finishing against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic on Saturday.
"I think one of the things we talked about was going into every game like it was our final," Steel coach Reinga Bloxham said.
"I don’t think that will change. We’ve still got plenty to play for.
"We have got pride in our own performance that we want to make sure we do. Every time we hit the point we’re always aiming to improve and try to keep working towards little goals.
"Success is measured by many things, not just winning the ANZ Premiership. So there’s lots of things that we’ve still got to play for."
The Stars, on the other hand, have plenty to play for.
They are coming off a 58-54 win against the Magic last night, leaving them well among the scrap for a place in the top three.
