Club netball in Dunedin has been put on hold for two weeks.
Dunedin Netball has made the decision to postpone any training sessions and trial matches planned from February 27 to March 13 due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the city.
"We understand there has been concerns around holding trials at this time and we wish to support clubs and schools as best we can with the information we have to hand," Dunedin Netball said in an email.
"A reminder this information is only for premier, senior and men’s competitions and there is no change to the secondary schools competition dates."
Pre-season games scheduled for March 22 and March 29 are now cancelled, and the premier-senior season will now start on April 20 rather than April 2 as previously set in the calendar.
The men’s competition games on March 28 and April 4-11 have been postponed.
That schedule will be reviewed after consultation with clubs when the number of teams is confirmed and the competition format is decided.
Further disruptions to other club sport around the region are expected.
Dunedin club rugby is scheduled to get under way on March 26, but the Council of Rugby Clubs will meet tonight to discuss the issue.
Dunedin premier cricket was postponed at the weekend and a decision on whether that round will be replayed will be made this week.
Otago Hockey general manager Andy McLean said its club season was due to start on April 2 and the sport still has some time before it has to make a final decision.
Southern League and local football is, at this stage, starting on March 26 as scheduled.
A decision is still to be made on whether Otago secondary school champs will be held.
