Warriors fans from around the country are expected in Dunedin for the team's pre-season match against the Brisbane Broncos at Forsyth Barr Stadium next February.
Air New Zealand has jumped on board with a $799 "Vodafone Warriors Entourage" Grabaseat deal, which includes tours of Speight's Brewery, the stadium and dinner at the Speight's Ale House.
Many league fans were equally interested in seeing the Warriors play and in experiencing Dunedin's covered stadium, Air New Zealand Grabaseat manager Duane Perrott said yesterday.
"The Warriors promotion went on sale this afternoon and we have already had a lot of interest and expect it to be very popular," he said.
"This is a great opportunity for Aucklanders to combine their love of league with checking out the new stadium.
"As a bonus, they'll get to meet some of the Warriors players, both inflight and down in Dunedin, too."
The NRL rugby league club hopes to extend its fan base by playing a pre-season match every year in Dunedin.
"It [the February 23 game] will be the first time we've played in Dunedin and all the Warriors players are really looking forward to playing in such a tremendous stadium," Warriors general manager Don Mann said.
"It allows us to take the players and team to new people. A lot of Dunedin people haven't had the chance to watch an NRL game.
"It's a terrific opportunity and our aim is not to make it a one-off. It's something we'd like to make a permanent part of our pre-season calendar."
