New Zealand will play Korea instead of Argentina in tonight's bronze medal playoff at the women's Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Amsterdam.
Argentina, after beating New Zealand 3-2 in last night's final pool match, were originally listed as third in the group but won an appeal to dislodge Korea from the runners-up spot.
Korea and Argentina completed the playoffs with four points each but Korea were awarded second placing and a place in the final against the Netherlands on the strength of having scored more goals, six to Argentina's five.
Argentina, who had won a total of three matches to the Koreans' one, protested that under tournament rules, total points earned from the start of the tournament would be the tie-breaker when teams finished level on points in the playoffs.
The protest was rejected by the tournament director but Argentina then successfully appealed that decision with the Jury of Appeal who agreed with their interpretation of the rules.
The means Argentina and Netherlands will now playoff in the final with Korea and New Zealand meeting in the bronze medal match.
