Otago golfer Will McLauchlan watches his drive off the fifth hole during the South Island interprovincial men’s championship at Balmacewen yesterday.

Otago’s eight-man team played some great golf to claim the title with wins in all four matches. They beat Southland 6-2, Aorangi 7-1, Tasman 7.5-0.5, and Canterbury 5.5-2.5.

McLauchlan, Phil Bungard, Ben Patston and Hamish Ireland all won four matches for Otago.

At the Rangiora club, Otago’s women put up a competitive showing but had to bow again to Canterbury, losing 6-2.

Otago No 1, Sumin Kang, posted a fine 5 and 3 win over Aroha Minhinnick, and Sophia Park won at No 5.

Otago beat Aorangi 4.5-3.5.
