North Otago held the Otago senior A pennant team to a 4-4 draw in their third round encounter at North Otago on Saturday.

Otago went into the match leading the table with four points and 13.5 games but the draw has allowed defending champion St Clair take first place.

St Clair has a maximum of six points with 17 games while Otago only has five points, despite a half game more.

Cameron Beel (Otago) won the battle of the No 1 players, beating Gary Creedy on the final green.

Creedy was tipped to perform well on his home course after he posted three wins in the recent subassociation match at St Clair in Dunedin.

The battle of the No 2 players went to North Otago with Mitch Bosley (Otago) finding out that John Cunningham is a formidable player at home.

The fourth round will be on March 24, while round five has been moved from Queen's Birthday weekend to Saturday June 7.
