New Zealand's greatest golfer and Otago's most promising golfer will tee off together in the legends tournament in Dunedin later this month.

Rising star Duncan Croudis will join Sir Bob Charles in the guest team at the City of Dunedin Legends Pro-Am on February 27.

Croudis will play in Saturday's second round as a replacement for Sir Brian Lochore, as the All Black great has to return to his home in Wairarapa.

Broadcaster and former Otago rugby player Murray Deaker and former All Black Andy Haden are the other members of the team.

Croudis (18) will be playing on his home course, Balmacewen.

The New Zealand under-19 champion said he was delighted to get the opportunity to play with Charles.

"This is extremely exciting and a privilege," Croudis said.

Three pupils from Croudis' former school, Otago Boys, will also get to rub shoulderswith the legends.

Thomas Facer (Otago), Scott Mitchell (St Clair) and Kayne Wardell (Allan Grange) have been invited to play in the tournament.

The pro-am attracted nine more professionals than expected, so they have been divided into three teams, each to include a schoolboy.
