The Wellington Phoenix were knocked out of the Australia Cup in the round of 32 when they slipped to a 1-0 loss to second-tier club South Melbourne on Tuesday night.
Harry Sawyer gave the Australians the lead after just four minutes, and while a young Phoenix side dominated possession the rest of the way, they could not find a path to goal.
