At just 15 years old, the Football South winger has almost completed her first season playing in the national women's league.
She is the second-youngest player in the team behind Sophie Dijkstra (15), and appears to have a bright future in the sport.
Head coach Hayley Stirling has gradually given Gray more game time as the season has wore on, and gave her a first start last weekend against Capital in Wellington.
Football South lost the match 4-1 and is planted at the bottom of the competition ladder, but Gray will not forget the experience.
''I was pretty nervous at first,'' she said.
''But it's been a great learning experience and I've really enjoyed playing with everyone on the team.''
The Columba College pupil prefers to play on the wing, but can also play up front if required.
She and Renee Bacon started on the flanks last weekend, alongside striker Una Madden.
Gray has played football since she was 8, and played her winter football for Columba in the schools competition, and the Mosgiel 5th grade boys team in the youth grade.
She was also picked in the Otago 17th grade girls representative team that won the South Island tournament in Ashburton last month.
But it has been a tough old season for Football South in the national league.
It has picked up just one point from a 2-2 draw with Auckland in round two.
The Dunedin-based side has also conceded 22 goals and scored just five.
The team has not won a game since 2013, and faces a stiff order to end the drought against table-topping Mainland Pride at Tahuna Park tomorrow.
Mainland has five wins and a draw to show from its six games, and is guaranteed to host the final on December 6 if it wins in Dunedin.
Football South needs to upset Mainland, and hope Central loses to Capital, for it to avoid the wooden spoon.
''It will be a tough game,'' Gray said.
''But I'm pretty excited for it, and hopefully we will get three points on the board at the end of it. We have definitely improved as the season has gone and we are coming together really well.''
The match kicks off at 1pm.
