Maximum matches are scheduled for Ellis Park today as the Roslyn-Wakari club celebrates its 125th year.
As many home games as possible are being held, and the various functions should swell crowds of spectators.
Footballsouth Premier League games today and Chatham Cup ties on Monday will also produce saturation football over the long weekend.
There will be willing local support as Roslyn faces its old enemy, Northern, today. Coach Colin Thom's side is riding high, top-equal in the league, but Northern will also be motivated to play well.
The game between Dunedin Technical and Mosgiel has been moved to Tahuna Park, due to ground conditions.
Mosgiel, with its back to the wall, needs a result to move up from second bottom in the FPL. But Technical, rapidly re-arming with new talent, should be too strong, especially if Tristan Prattley and Tim Myers return to the fold.
It should be a thriller between University and Caversham at the Caledonian, with the students trying to fend off a determined challenge from a side two points behind.
Having been knocked out of the Cup, Green Island must now concentrate on the league, and getting maximum performances from Dan Rutter and goal-grabbers Joel Stevens and Taylor McCormack.
Green Island plays Old Boys at Sunnyvale, and the Invercargill side has closed ranks since losing imports earlier in the season. Coach Ignacio Sande also has the likes of Scots striker Robbie Goodwillie hitting top form and he could spring a surprise or two.
Playing well but getting little reward, Grants Braes faces a wintry journey to play Queenstown that will test character as much as football ability. Braes is at rock bottom, and Queenstown is six points higher. On Monday, in the Chatham Cup, Roslyn may also have to dig deep and show discipline for a demanding journey to Invercargill to play Queens Park. Park, formed by Alex Stojkovich in 1957, won several Donald Gray championships and now coach Lindsay Barnett's side has an ace in Matty Burgess, brother of Otago Golden Boot winner Aaron. Matty has scored four goals in each of his last two games.
Two Cup ties are scheduled for the Caledonian Ground on Monday.
The early game, between Northern and University, kicks off at noon, in case extra time is required. Caversham plays Invercargill Old Boys at 2pm.
Northern's unpredictability may suit Cup football with its free running forwards, and its odds may even improve if some student players are away on holiday.
However, University has depth to spare, with coach Luiz Uehara plucking impressive players from lower grades to plug the few gaps that have appeared this season.
Caversham will be looking for Tom Jackson and possibly Bradley Scott to fit into the team pattern, and use home advantage, while Old Boys may be jaded after two consecutive away matches in Dunedin.
In women's football tomorrow, Northern plays Varsity at the Gardens, Roslyn plays Green Island at Ellis Park, and Dunedin Technical's two sides clash at Culling Park.
