Southern United coach Mike Fridge has signed another familiar face for the ASB Premiership.
Former Roslyn-Wakari and Caversham player Harley Rodeka, who spent the past three years playing for Hawkes Bay United, is back.
Rodeka, who left the then Otago United four years ago, joins defender Tristan Prattley as names many people in the South will be familiar with.
Prattley is originally from Dunedin and played under Fridge at Dunedin Technical for seven years. He played for Waitakere United last year, before Fridge snapped him up to bolster the side at the back.
Rodeka is a versatile player, who could play up front, in the midfield or at the back, Fridge said.
The second-year coach also signed striker Tom McBride, who is originally from Scotland, to complete his 24-strong squad for the season.
McBride played club football for Caversham last year before returning to Scotland. However, he is expected to arrive back in Dunedin early next month for the coming season.
The latest signings follow news veteran defender Stu Kelly had signed with the team.
Kelly has played more than 100 games in the national league, and, along with Rodeka and McBride, will provide plenty of experience.
''I'm happy with the squad,'' Fridge said.
''I've only kept 11 from last year's team. There is a lot more experience. But they're not old, they have just been around for a while.
''Plus the players I had last year are a year older. Last year was a bit of a shock, going from the local league here to playing in the national league.''
Southern United will play its only pre-season games against Canterbury United in Timaru on Saturday, before kicking off the national league against Waitakere United in Dunedin on November 15.
