Today presents another opportunity for Southern United.

The Dunedin-based national league team host the Phoenix Reserves at the Logan Park Turf at noon.

The Phoenix Reserves have struggled to find momentum this season and Southern United head in off the back of a 3-1 loss to West Coast Rangers at home last week.

A couple of late errors from Southern United allowed the West Coast Rangers to exploit the gaps and bury two goals in the final quarter.

It left the side seventh on the table with a record of two wins, one draw and three losses.

Ridley said they were not too far off the other teams, but just needed to make a couple of tweaks for the scoreboard to go their way.

"We’ve just got to keep the ball and cherish the ball.

"Our distribution has to be to feet or not just hit willingly.

"We just need to be able to find feet and move forward.

"At the moment, we’re just a little bit off the pace. But’s that’s OK. We’ll try and get the win this week."

Southern United will want to find the back of the net more than once this afternoon.

The Phoenix Reserves, who sit in ninth place, will be high after picking up their first victory, a 5-0 win against Central, last week.

Ella McMillian scored a double in the opening 10 minutes of that game.

Danica Urlich-Beech scored a nice goal for Southern United last week and striker Amy Hislop played her first minutes off the bench last week after an injury layoff.

In the other games today, Western Springs are home to Central, Canterbury United Pride play Eastern Suburbs and Wellington United host Waterside Karori.

West Coast Rangers played league leaders Auckland United last night.
