Henderson (36) is one of nine cyclists who have been named for the Lotto-Belisol team, which will start in the Tour de France this weekend.
The 100th running of the race will start in Corsica and will then go for just over three weeks.
Henderson, who is based in Spain and Melbourne these days, will again be in charge of helping big German Andre Greipel get to the finish line first in the sprints.
He did that successfully last year, as the German won three flat stages after Henderson led him out in the last 1km of the stage.
Henderson's job within the Belgian-backed team is to protect Greipel in the final kilometres of a flat stage and then, with less than 1km to go, get Greipel near the front and put the afterburners on.
Greipel is then left to sprint for the line with only a couple of hundred metres to go, as Henderson has, hopefully, seen off many of his rivals.
Henderson picked up a couple of sixth placings in last year's tour after his efforts to help Greipel. His final placing was 124th, one place and just over 4min behind Greipel.
The New Zealander was more than 3hr behind winner Bradley Wiggins, of the United Kingdom, who is not defending his title.
Henderson is a latecomer to the tour, as he did not switch fully to the road until he entered his 30s.
He was left off the the roster of the Team Sky outfit for a couple of years before switching to the Belgium-based team at the end of 2011.
The Lotto-Belisol team's big hope for an overall tour victory is Belgium rider Jurgen Ven den Broeck, a former world junior time trial champion. He finished fourth in the race last year.
The race starts on June 30 (NZ time) with a flat stage of more than 200km, and and will finish on July 22, in Paris, the race ending at night, which is a first.
