The 37-year-old Lotto Belisol rider is expected to line up for his third Tour de France next month.
He will prepare for the great race with a warm-up at Zer ZLM Toer in the Netherlands this week, and in August will represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Lotto Belisol has not made any announcement on the team for the tour but Henderson posted on Facebook he intended to do some ''recon of TDF cobbles'' and described the ZLM tour as ''my last tune-up before Le Tour''.
The lead-out sprinter is in top form, having placed third on the Ronde van Limburg in Belgium.
''Had the gut feeling at 150m to go that it might be [on] for the win,'' he wrote.
''Unfortunately I was glued to wheel in front of me and full [to] the brim with acid in my legs. Up and down all day. And nasty uphill sprint.
Henderson will be competing in his fourth Commonwealth Games and leads a strong New Zealand team which includes Jesse Sergent, Jack Bauer and George Bennett.
Unfortunately, double Olympic medallist Hayden Roulston pulled out yesterday after picking up an Achilles injury.
Roulston, who won a bronze and silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and a silver in the Delhi Commonwealth Games road race, said he hoped to recover in the next few weeks. But his lack of competitive racing would left him battling to be competitive in Glasgow.
''I can't be sure that I would be 100% recovered, although this is more niggling injury than serious,'' Roulston said.
''Even if I came right quickly, I need international races to get in prime shape. A race like the Commonwealth Games is not something you can contemplate off training.
''I would not go just to make up the numbers. That's not fair on me or the others. If I can't be certain of being in shape to win the race, then I don't want to start.''
Roulston will return to Christchurch for the birth of his second child.
BikeNZ will make a decision on a replacement closer to the event.
