It also marked Oamaru’s first home loss in nine Borton Cup matches since March 2022.
The Rangers batted first, managing 124 runs in 44 overs.
Matt Brien’s bowling figures of four for 27 for Oamaru were supported by Hunter Wardle’s two for 19 and Stephan Grobler’s two for 25.
In response, Oamaru seemed set for a strong chase, Wardle leading the way with 22 before he was dismissed with the score at 57 for two.
Oamaru pushed forward to 78 for two and looked well set for victory, but Glenavy fought back fiercely, taking three wickets in five balls to tilt the game.
As wickets continued to fall, Oamaru found themselves at a precarious 103 for eight.
A late partnership between Nick Johnston and Reece Curle brought Oamaru within four runs of victory. However, Glenavy’s fielding proved decisive as Johnston was caught, followed by Curle being run out, ending Oamaru’s innings at 123 in the 38th over.
Ross McCulloch and Zach Graham each took three for 24 for Glenavy and Hamish McCulloch added two for 42.
St Kevin’s dominated Valley with a 10-wicket win.
Valley were bowled out for 69 in 27 overs. Lloyd Fellowes led the way for St Kevin’s with five for 15, supported by Liam Direen (two for 16) and Jacob Fowler (two for 19).
Jack Kelly’s unbeaten 51 off 61 balls took St Kevin’s to 71 without loss in 20 overs.
Union triumphed over Albion, who were bowled out for 95 in 29 overs.
Hayden Creedy scored 21 for Albion, who battled against Union bowlers Brad Fleming (three for 33), Alex Wilson (two for two), Liam Mavor (two for 11) and Blake James (two for 25).
Union recovered from 39 for four and, thanks to Wilson (24 not out) and Kane McLachlan (25 not out), reached 96 for four in 22 overs for a six-wicket victory.
Scott Kitto’s quick 20 off seven balls boosted Union’s start, while Tom Squire (two for 29) and Aneesh Bose (two for 30) led the Albion bowlers.
