Volts all-rounder Sam Wells slammed an undefeated 116 from 54 balls to help Albion win its second consecutive match at the National Club Championships in Auckland yesterday.

Wells belted nine sixes and eight fours to help his side post  306 for five from 45 overs against Mt Maunganui at Cornwall Park No2. The left-hander had plenty of help from opener Taylor Cumberland, who set up a wonderful platform with 109 from 131 balls.

Josh Tasman-Jones also played an instrumental role with 44. The target proved elusive for Mt Maunganui. Albion spinner Teja Nidamanuru took five for 55 to help dismiss the North Islanders for 193, wrapping up a 113-run win.

The first two fixtures were rained out, so Albion is unbeaten and if it beats Takapuna today, it will qualify for the final on Sunday.
