Rain wrecks NZ’s T20

The second T20 between the Black Caps and Bangladesh was washed out.

The Black Caps will need to win the final T20 at Bay Oval tomorrow to level the series.

There was some cricket in Mount Maunganui last night.

The Black Caps had reached 72 for two in the 11th over. Tim Seifert led the charge with a hard-hit 43.

And the Black Caps were not one for three after nine balls this time. They were 10 for one which was marginally better.

Finn Allen (2) cracked a drive straight to Rishad Hossain at cover.

Shoriful Islam got the breakthrough, of course. The left-armer has been in impressive form on the tour.

He also showed some good sportsmanship. Daryl Mitchell banged a drive down the ground which collected team-mate Seifert in the head.

He crumbled into a heap and Islam could have run him out but elected not to.

Seifert thanked him with a thick edge which flew for six. There is no justice.

The innings lost some momentum when he perished.

Mitchell was struggling with his timing. Glenn Phillips made a slow start.

Rain was threatening to interrupt the match and then eventually did. And that was that.
