Host Australia looms as a threat to both sides, while each will also have to navigate subcontinent challengers.
First up are the White Ferns whose tournament will run from February 21 to March 8.
They face a big challenge in having to beat defending champion and world No1 Australia on home turf.
Failing that, they will have to beat India, which topped its group at last year's tournament and knocked out New Zealand.
Sri Lanka and a yet-to-be-determined qualifier are the other teams in the group.
The men's tournament - running from October 18 to November 15 - has New Zealand also matched up against host Australia.
It will have to wait until its last group match to challenge its transtasman neighbour, though.
The two-time champion West Indies will be its opening opponent, and world No1 Pakistan will also present a tough match-up.
Two additional qualifiers will be added to the group.
Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are among those contesting those spots, Afghanistan having claimed the eighth spot.
