Honours to South Canty

South Canterbury claimed first-innings points in the Hawke Cup game against Otago Country at Molyneux Park at the weekend.

After winning the toss, South Canterbury chalked up 363 for seven before declaring. Shaun Rooney played a star role with a fine century, making 161 off 230 balls, including 13 fours and two sixes, and William Sharp made 75. Kevin Loggenberg bowled well for Otago Country, claiming six for 81 off 18 overs.

In reply, Country were dismissed for 239 in the 102nd over. Loggenberg completed a fine game with 50, and Sukhdev Singh made 40. Sharp and Fletcher Rhodes each grabbed three wickets for South Canterbury. — APL
