Higher duties force changes on Otago

The Otago Volts have been forced into making some changes to their side to take on Northern Districts today.

It could be argued the side has been penalised by its success as key players are rewarded with selection in the senior New Zealand side and the New Zealand A team, but teams want players to be
promoted into the national reckoning so it is success all round.

Coming into the playing squad of 12 are Llew Johnson, Jarrad McKay, Angus McKenzie and Travis Muller. The match will be played at the University of Otago Oval.

Otago captain Jacob Duffy drops out of the squad as he will make his New Zealand debut on Friday night in a twenty20 international against Pakistan at Eden Park in Auckland.

Michael Rae, Nathan Smith and Michael Rippon have all been selected to play for the New Zealand A side which will take on Pakistan A in a series of matches in Whangarei, starting on Thursday.

Johnson may finally get a bat after a few matches of late carrying the drinks as 12th man.

Otago sits third on the ladder on 12 points.

Canterbury leads on 18 points and Northern Districts is one point behind.
