The Volts look to be sliding towards defeat in their Plunket Shield match against the Aces in Auckland.
After showing some fight in a rain-delayed first session today, after yesterday was lost to rain, the Volts have slipped to 176 for 6, still trailing the home team by 108 runs at Colin Maiden Park.
Craig Cumming had been leading the Otago fightback, but his dismissal by Aces spinner Bupinder Singh for 74 has sparked a middle order collapse and the Volts' hopes midway through the middle session rested on captain Derek de Boorder (4no) and Jimmy Neesham (2no).
Singh has been the chief destroyer for Auckland, running through to Volts middle order to have figures of 4 for 33.
In other matches, Wellington are 103 for 4, needing another 227 to beat Northern in the capital, while in Nelson Central are in big trouble against Canterbury. Chasing 296 to win, Central are 27 for 5.
