Cricket: Otago continue to build lead

Otago have a handy lead but will want to bat more time to make the game safe in their Plunket Shield match with Central Districts in Dunedin.

After starting the day on 37 for one in its second innings, leading by 15 runs with nine wickets in hand, Otago have moved through to 196 for 4, into the second session of the final day at the University Oval.

First-innings century maker Ryan ten Doeschate has motored through to 48 not out since lunch, his knock featuring three sixes. Neil Broom is with him and is yet to score.

The Volts will look to bat as much time as possible today to ensure the weather-affected match ends in a draw.

Earlier Neil Wagner continued his fine match, scoring 65 as nightwatchman to go with his 68 in the first dig and four wickets in CD's first turn at bat.

The other batsmen out for Otago today are Aaron Redmond (38) and Michael Bracewell (16).
