The 48-year-old club stalwart said he was "chuffed" to be acknowledged in that fashion and shares a great passion for the game with his father, Eric.
McCormick linked up with Carisbrook-Dunedin in the mid 1980s but could not remember how long he had been involved with the DCA, other than to say "it had been a while".
He was president of the DCA from 2003 to 2006 and has held several positions with Carisbrook-Dunedin including selector, club captain and chairman.
McCormick received some plaques to acknowledge his contribution to the sport which he said were "taking pride of place in the lounge at the moment until the wife shifts them, I suppose".
The self-described lower grade hard-hitting middle-order batsman "hacks" his way around the golf course these days rather than padding up.
But while he is not involved out on the field he has no plans to step back any time soon.
"I'm just going to carry on the same and keep plugging away at the cricket club."
Green Island stalwart Gordon "Flash" Cambridge was also inducted as a DCA life member.
DCA operations manager Andy McLean said the pair had made outstanding contributions.
"Both are long-serving members of the DCA and cricket in general in Dunedin, and are two guys who are always willing to help," McLean said.
"They're well-deserving."
