Green Island 226/5 beat University Grange 191/9 by 35 runs

A dominant batting display from Green Island helped it to a 35-run win over University-Grange in Dunedin senior club cricket on Saturday.

From the start, Green Island looked to dominate the University-Grange bowling attack with a 103-run opening stand.

Opener Henry Blackwell went on to make 92. Green Island reached 226 in the 52nd over, only five wickets down, posting a difficult target for University-Grange to chase down.

The University-Grange batsmen all had starts, but only Jesse Simpson (77) was able to go on and post a big score, which cost University-Grange them the match, by just 35 runs.

Despite being a little bit expensive going for 63 runs, Mark Joyce picked up four handy wickets for Green Island from his 13 overs, helping his team to victory.

Carisbrook-Dunedin 227 beat Albion 84 by 143 runs

Poor batting from Albion gave Carisbrook-Dunedin an easy 143-run win at Tonga Park.

In trouble at 63 for three, Carisbrook-Dunedin posted a decent total of 227, on the back of a fourth-wicket partnership of 98, Michael Higgins leading the charge with 69.

Albion's batsmen never got going, falling to 43 for seven before the lower order brought some respectability to the chase. It still ended up being dismissed for 84, 143 short of the total.

Sean Moran bowled well for Carisbrook-Dunedin, taking four wickets from his nine overs, and Matthew Lobb also contributed, with three wickets.

Kaikorai 235/6 beat Taieri 124 by 111 runs

Despite a shaky start, top-placed Kaikorai cruised to an easy 111-run win over bottom-of-the-table Taieri.

Looking at posting a total below 100 at 18 for four, Kaikorai mounted a comeback, thanks mostly Tom Muir's innings of 94. Iain Robertson (45) and Colin Aitken (52) also contributed, to take Kaikorai 235 for six.

Tim Field had a good day with the ball, taking four of the six wickets.

It looked as if Ash Thompson (41) would be able to give Taieri a fighting chance, but when he fell with his team at 67, its chance of winning disappeared.

Kaikorai's bowling attack was too good for the remaining Taieri batsman and Robertson added four wickets to his 41 runs to help give his team a 111-run victory.
