The second round of the 50-over Dunedin competition started on Saturday, with both Carisbrook-Dunedin and University-Grange stamping their mark on the round with dominant wins.
• Taieri 66 lost to Carisbrook-Dunedin 68/0 by 10 wickets
Carisbrook-Dunedin cruised to an easy 10-wicket win over Taieri with Carisbook-Dunedin's bowling attacking restricting Taieri to a dismal 66 runs.
James Welch and Sean Moran led the bowling figures with three wickets each, combining with the rest of the attack to restrict all but one Taieri batsman to single figures.
The run chase was just as easy with the opening batsmen, Nick Eathorne and Jordan Horrell, cruising to the 66-run target in nine overs.
Taieri would have been worse off if Michael Rae, batting at No 9, had not scored a cheeky 22 at the end of the innings.
• Green Island 99 lost to University-Grange 102/3 by seven wickets
Craig Smith's four wickets in five overs for University-Grange helped restrict Green Island to 99 runs, giving his team an easy run chase.
In a good position at 77 for four when Smith came in to bowl, Green Island then found it difficult to keep Smith out, with the last six wickets collapsing for 22 runs. Only captain Jordan Sheed, with 30 runs, could post a semi-respectable total for Green Island.
University-Grange's run chase did not get off to the best start, with both openers getting out cheaply.
But Alistair Collie made sure his team would not follow Green Island's lead, and scored a quick-fire 74 off just 66 balls before getting himself out with only four more runs needed.
• Albion 120 lost to North East Valley 124/7 by three wickets
North East Valley made life hard for itself by adding 41 extra runs to Albion's total, including a staggering 32 wides.
Despite the lack of discipline from the Valley bowlers, they were still able to restrict Albion to a small total, with the pick of the bowlers, Florian Schmidt, grabbing three wickets.
Blair Brown top-scored for Albion with a handy 32, to take his team to a defendable total.
Valley stumbled in its attempt to chase down Albion's total and only Tristan Eckhoff, with his 30 runs, making any real contribution.
In the end, Albion's total was too small despite a good bowling effort from Paddy Cairns who picked up three wickets in his nine overs.
