Ian Butler provided the late heroics to get Otago home over CD in their HRV Cup match in New Plymouth today.
Chasing 164 to win, Otago got off to a good start but fell away in the middle and looked destined for their first loss in eight games before before Butler banged 32 off 17 balls to get them home.
They finished on 166 for 7 to record a three-wicket win.
The seamer, who was the pick of the bowlers for the Volts with 3 for 38 in the Central innings, struck three sixes in his whirlwind knock.
Openers Hamish Rutherford (36) and Neil Broom (32) made good contributions but the Otago middle order failed to fire.
Earlier, the home side scored 163 for 7 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and batting.
Jeet Raval made 49 and Kieran Noema-Barnett 47.
