Former Black Caps spinner Mark Craig has been named in an otherwise unchanged Otago team.

Craig replaces batsman Neil Broom, who is playing for the Black Caps in the ODI series against the West Indies.

The Volts are yet to post a win in the twenty20 tournament and will play Northern Districts at Seddon Park tomorrow afternoon.

Craig got the nod ahead of seamers Jack Hunter and Matt Bacon for the last spot.

"At the end of the day we have to keep some stability around what our team structure looks like," Volts coach Rob Walter said.

"Ordinarily Michael Rippon would be there but he is out injured so we thought why not get a like-for-like replacement for this game.

"There is the potential that the wicket might be a used wicket and that they might want to play on a slightly slower surface to bring their spinners into the game.

"We needed to take that into consideration and with Shawn Hicks in the squad there is already another seam bowler to call on if we need to on the morning of the game.

"It just felt right to have that spin cover in our squad and Mark gives us another attacking batting option in the line-up."

Northern Districts leads the competition with two wins from three games. Otago suffered a big loss to Canterbury in its opening game and its home fixture against Wellington was abandoned without a ball bowled.Canterbury hosts Central Districts in Rangiora this afternoon.
