Form
Wellington won both round-robin games between the two teams but Canterbury won the major semifinal by 27 runs to secure
home venue for the final.
Key players
Henry Nicholls is the big cog in the Canterbury batting line-up. He has churned out 350 runs at an average of 70 in the tournament. But important as he is to the home side, Canterbury will look to squeeze Wellington through spinners Tim Johnston and Todd Astle. The pair have combined to take 22 wickets economically. Wellington has a vastly experienced bowling line-up and has been the most consistent side in the tournament. Former Canterbury quick Hamish Bennett has nabbed 15 wickets at 19.26 but it is his economy rate of 4.37 which really stands out. Spinner Jeetan Patel and medium-pacer Brent Arnel are likely to have an impact as well, while Matt Taylor has provided some nice finishes with the bat.
