D’Angelo was named in the Rapid League all star five in the Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa League awards yesterday.
She was joined by Northern Kahu players Krystal Leger-Walker and Steph Bairstow — who was also named the Rapid League MVP — and Tokomanawa Queens player Jacinta Backley and Mainland Pouākai player Sharne Robati, who was also named Tauihi most improved player of the year.
Ilmar’I Thomas was the big winner in the awards, the American import being named the league’s MVP.
She has been huge in her second season with the Kahu and was named in the all star five alongside Queens WNBA player Jordan Horston, Pouākai players Mikhaela Cann and Haileigh Reinoehl and Whai player Ashley Joens.
Queens captain Stella Beck was named defensive player of the year, Kahu Australian import Chloe Forster was named youth player of the year and Pouākai coach Paul Flynn was named coach of the year after turning the Pouākai around this season.
Matt Bathurst was named referee of the year and Walter Taulelei (Queens) was named team general manager of the year.
The Queens also picked up awards for best game presentation and fan engagement.
The Pouākai were named club of the year and scooped the best social media award.
