Basketball Otago general manager Markham Brown hopes All Black Sonny Bill Williams will join the list of those who have already agreed to play in a charity basketball and netball game at the Edgar Centre later this month.
The March 20 game is being staged to raise funds for those affected by the Christchurch earthquake.
With the Crusaders in the city to play the Highlanders on March 19, Brown hopes some of the squad will agree to stay on another night and play in the match.
"It is a bit of a dream to get old SBW to stay another night," Brown said.
"We might get those guys to stay a bit longer."
Williams would certainly add to the profile of the event and pull some punters, and their donations, through the door.
But it is still very much a dream at this stage, Brown said.
Netball great Lois Muir has agreed to coach one of the teams, with former Silver Fern Belinda Colling, who is pregnant with her fourth child, possibly assisting Muir.
Dual basketball and cricket international Suzie Bates, former Silver Fern Jodi Brown, New Zealand discus champion Marshall Hall, former professional golfer Greg Turner and former Highlanders lock Brendon Timmins have signed on.
The Nuggets squad will be involved, as well as some prominent Otago netballers.
The Highlanders are in South Africa, preparing for a match against the Stormers on Saturday morning New Zealand time, but Brown hopes one or two will give the round ball code a crack on their return.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets may play the Sharks in two pre-season matches in Invercargill during the first weekend in April.
"We're just in talks at this stage," Brown said.
"We're still trying to work out the logistics but they have invited us to play two games down there."
The Nuggets open their campaign on August 13 against Auckland in Auckland.
