The Otago Nuggets went to the top of the National Basketball League standings with a 97-74 victory against the Waikato Pistons at the Edgar Centre tonight.
It is the Nuggets' seventh consecutive win and fifth this season.
Power forward BJ Anthony and Akeem Wright led the scoring with 26 points apiece. The captain Mark Dickel grabbed 13 rebounds and 10 assists for a double-double in front of a appreciative crowd of more than 1800.
Zack Atkinson was impressive for the visitors with a staggering 21 rebounds and 24 points. Fellow import Garrius Holloman amassed 20 points in his debut for the Pistons.
